i feel like people have forgotten what “NSFW” actually stands for after all these years

it stands for “not safe for work,” as in “material that could get you fired if your boss sees you looking at it at your place of employment”

tagging things as “nsfw” is not something to be politicized, it is a courtesy to your fellow humans so that they do not get fired or socially ostracized for someone’s whole dick being out on their computer

Reblogging because I recently saw someone saying in their blog description that they didn’t post NSFW, but that they did reblog “tasteful or artistic nudity.”

Like…. No… That’s not how it works…..

Can I add, please don’t use fancy fonts and shit to tag your nsfw posts! It’s nearly impossible to blacklist, and it’s a pain in the ass to have to blacklist multiple versions of nsfw tags. Just use “nsfw” in plain text. No punctuation, emojis, fancy text, etc.

Maybe it doesn’t match your blog’s look or aesthetic, but guess what? Your blog’s aesthetic is not more important than someone’s livelihood.

Even if you don’t think anyone should be browsing Tumblr at work to begin with, there are also those who share a room, say with siblings (older or younger), roommates, etc. or are with their family.

Not everyone wants to explain why there’s a naked woman on their phone/tablet/computer to their parents. Or their grandparents, or siblings. I’ve browsed Tumblr mobile during family dinners and nearly shat myself when someone’s spanked pink arse popped up.

Neither do I want one of my teachers seeing a hairy ballsack on my Tumblr dash if I’m using it outside of class and they pass by.

Just tag your nsfw, guys.

King James I: *builds secret tunnel connecting his room to the room of a man he calls his husband*

Historians: it’s very hard to tell what kind of relationship they would have had, let’s not look at this through a 21st century lens

Let’s all take a moment to remember that King James I authorized the English translation of the Bible that would become the King James Bible.

The guy who sponsored translating the Bible into English was gay.
