Iphone X is my first one so I don’t know if this is true in a software update or only true of this one phone, but mine does the same thing if I just hold volume up and lock for 5 seconds. Don’t have to swipe anything, can do it kinda subtilely without looking at the screen.

on the iPhone 7 I have it automatically sends an emergency SOS after 5 lock button clicks. (you cancel within 3sec). save a life
