My land lady is a 90lb 88 year old woman with 5 full grown Rottweiler boys. They sit around her when she gardens and watch her like the secret service. If you show up to pay rent they all stand up and stand between you and her.
It’s intimidating to have 5 pony size boys all staring at you until she stands up realizes it’a you and walks to you.
My favorite part is she wades through them like swamp water saying in her cute old voice ‘move’ ‘move please’ and each one she nudges to move wags his whole body at her touch and stumbles out of the way like he’s been knocked over by a truck. It gives me life paying my rent.
When I was little we had a dog named Taz, he was a rottweiler and lab mix. My uncle had a dog name Zoey and she was a pitbull. They were super super sweet dogs, would literally run up and flip on their backs for belly rubs, and when I was a baby and teething I hauled off and bit Zoey and she just licked my face.
One time we went to the beach and I was “walking” them on the sand but it was more like they were walking me. A guy came up and grabbed my hand (later found out he was “trying to get my attention to ask where my family was”) and within seconds Taz had throttled the guy to the ground and Zoey had grabbed the leash around my wrist and pulled me back. They didn’t bite the guy but they made sure to bark and growl up a storm so that everyone was looking over and paying attention.
They knew biting people was bad but they knew that the guy wasn’t supposed to grab me and made damn sure the entire beach was aware of that.
Big dogs like rottweilers, pitbulls, german shepherds, etc., have a really bad rep as being mean and aggressive but they’re sweethearts I swear to god. Like I can’t even list the amount of times those dogs saved me no joke. I fell into the pool at my uncles (didnt know how to swim at the time) and Zoey barked a bit but didn’t wait for help she just jumped in let me grab onto her collar then dragged me to the steps. Another time I was walking outside at my grandparents house to take out the trash and before I even saw it he started barking his head off at a mountain lion, within a few seconds my grandparents came outside along with everyone else and the amount of people scared it off.
