a magnitude 7.3 earthquake hit the border of iran / iraq on sunday nov 12th   ;   current numbers indicate 445 have passed with thousands more injured. this is the worst earthquake of 2017 so far, and it has affected predominantly kurdish regions on both sides. rescue efforts are underway.
