Recently, a team from Singapore government’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and Institute of high performance computing has created and developed an artificial intelligence (AI) to detect sarcasm in comments online. If it is successful, a few government agencies may use it to analyse online comments on government policies and etc.
It’s called crystalace. According to the one of the team members, the system would recognize the characteristics of sarcastic comments, including grammar, social media speak and colloquialisms. In the enhanced version(in the near future), it can be detect Chinese and Malay languages.
