Me explaining angels to a friend.

A friend of mine got REALLY confused when I made angels antagonists in SM2 and made their powers seem ‘evil’, since I myself am Christian. I had to explain in great detail why this wasn’t the case.

Angels are not EVIL. They are righteous in their cause. They are the creations of goodness and light, given purpose to protect innocence. In their creation, they were not instructed to be merciful or kind; their purpose is to protect innocence and resolve issues that endanger that innocence.

They are Lawful Good in the spectrum of Law/Chaos/Good/Evil. They care not of the means, but they care of the end result.

However, weapons are weapons. The cross burn on skin is an action of punishment, injuring those who defy the angel’s word. Many would see this as horrid/evil, but to angels, this is a step towards resolving issues.

Antagonists are antagonists, but not every antagonist is evil.

Demons are typically Lawful or True Neutral. Demons who are evil like the Demon Lord and the imp demons spawn across the Evil spectrum (Lawful, True, and Chaotic)

Humans, however, typically range through all 9 spectrums (Lawful-True-Chaotic, Good-Neutral-Evil) depending on their actions and knowledge.

Mika, being a human who is in love with a demon, is deemed Chaotic Neutral. Unless you are a devout follower of Heaven, you are not Lawful Good by any means.

James, being a demon, is also Chaotic Neutral. He follows his own rules and is tainted by magic.
