i love cicero but the irony of this is destroying me

for context:

• cicero is asking lucceius to write something about how cool his consulship was
• part of his argument is that if he wrote it himself, people would roll their eyes
• cicero then proceeded to write not one, but two (2) extremely mediocre epic poems about his accomplishments

• our largest chunk of cicero’s epic poetry only survives because cicero himself, in one of his other works, quotes roughly 70 lines of one of the epic poems he wrote about himself
